The team from Ireland’s foreign direct investment agency IDA Ireland are delighted to be attending Velocity2 this Wednesday and Thursday in London, and like you we’re looking out for the best talks to get to. We thought we might give you some tips on three of our compatriots who we can promise you will not disappoint! These Irish speakers represent three world class SaaS companies with a base in Dublin. Combined, these companies employ over 8,500 people, have raised over $420m in funding, and two have IPO'd.
Florida is famous for its endless sandy beaches (Florida has the longest coastline, 1,197 statute miles, in the contiguous United States) as well as its world renowned theme parks such as Disney, Universal, and Busch Gardens. But Florida is also gaining a reputation as a hotbed for high growth companies such as MagicLeap (Miami), who have received over $1bn in funding from investors such as Alibaba and Google.
Are you a newly established company in Ireland? Or maybe you are working for a multinational organisation and this is your first Christmas in Ireland. Here are some Irish traditions and activities that you may or may not wish to partake in over the festive season
For a small country of 4.7 million people, Ireland punches well above its weight in the talent department. This year’s Oscar nominations reveals an impressive array of Irish names, across a broad range of categories, including Best Lead Actress (Saoirse Ronan, Ladybird), Best Lead Actor (Daniel Day Lewis, Phantom Thread), Best Original Screenplay (Martin McDonagh, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and Best Animated Feature (Cartoon Saloon, The Breadwinner), amongst others.
Internationally recognised for its abundant base of global technology companies and its equally vibrant creative industry, Ireland has been experiencing a convergence of both industries of late, with companies like Amazon and Facebook leading the charge.
Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to take many amazing family vacations in Florida. I have many fond memories that involve sunshine, white sand beaches, freshly squeezed oranges, football and Disney World! I attended the Florida Venture Capital conference, in 2016, and saw first-hand that innovation and tech is blossoming in the Sunshine State. From the Unicorn Magic Leap, Space Florida, great universities, great cities and warm winters – it’s no surprise that business is thriving in #Florida. Aer Lingus has recently launched two direct flights from both Orlando and Miami to #Dublin which has helped bridge the gap between the two.
As the Utah tech scene thrives, ambitious companies from the Silicon Slopes have been looking beyond the United States to fuel their growth. In this State, which has been named best for business by CNBC & USA Today, that means that "good enough" doesn't cut it when they are looking for new locations to grow their customer base overseas.
It is no wonder that Galway, the city of tribes has many different facets to offer the international company looking to locate in Ireland. Not only is the city perfectly equipped to welcome the largest multi-national but it is also perfectly equipped to house and scale the internationalising start-up. The city has designed itself to meet the different needs of both sizes of companies very well.
Join us in the Irish Embassy, Grosvenor Place, London next Wednesday 25th May from 3.30pm till 6.30pm for an exclusive networking event.
